A 14-year-old boy this week fought off a man who broke into the family’s Longview, Wash., home and stabbed the boy’s mother.
The boy and his 31-year-old mother were both stabbed in the assault, according to the Longview Police Department. Police described their injuries as “severe, but non-life-threatening.”
The attack unfolded shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday, and police were sent to check out a disturbance call in the residential neighborhood.
When the officers pulled up to the home, they quickly realized this wasn’t a routine call. They found a man police later identified as Branson Luck, 22, outside the residence, with blood on his hands and pants. They took him into custody. Detectives arrived and found the knife used in the attack.
Detectives suspect that, 10 minutes before the attack on the boy and his mother, Luck had used a knife while trying to rob people on a nearby street, according to the Longview Police Department.
Police have not released the names of the woman or the boy who were stabbed. An investigation into the attack is ongoing.
