14-Year-Old Seriously Hurt While Protecting His Mom In Longview Double Stabbing

Longview police are investigating a stabbing that left a 14-year-old boy and his mother severely injured on Tuesday night. LONGVIEW Wash. (KPTV) – Longview police are investigating a stabbing that left a 14-year-old boy and his mother severely injured on Tuesday night.

Witnesses said the suspect entered a family’s home in the Highlands neighborhood and attacked the boy’s mother. The boy intervened.

“I feel so bad he was injured and I’m glad the police did a bang-up job,” said Mike Pederson, who is head of his neighborhood watch and lives a few doors down from the incident.

Pederson said he heard police cars drive by over his scanner Tuesday night, something he is becoming more accustomed to as he sees more crime in his community, he said.“We’ve definitely noticed an uptick,” he said. “A lot of shots fired. A lot of gang graffiti scattered around the neighborhood. It just seems to be escalating.”

A man accused of killing his mother in Siletz on Tuesday told police he believed she was a vampire, according to court documents.
Police said they found two people suffering from severe stab wounds in the 200 block of 23rd Avenue. They also detained a 22-year-old suspect after finding blood on the man’s hands outside the victims’ home.

“Holding people up with weapons and stuff, that’s unusual,” Pederson said. “That’s not the norm by any means.”About 10 minutes before the stabbing call came in, police said they believe the suspect tried to rob someone else nearby first, threatening them with a knife.

The attempted armed robbery and stabbings have rocked his small community, Pederson said.

“It’s unsettling because we have a lot of walkers and dog walkers in the mornings,” he said. “People are still talking about it.”

The suspect was identified as Branson Luck. He was booked into jail for first-degree assault and second-degree assault.
