GREEN BAY & LA CROSSE, WI – Well, here we go again—March in Wisconsin is bringing us a little bit of everything this week. We’ve got rain, snow, gusty winds, and temperature swings on the way, so if you thought we were cruising into spring, think again! Whether you’re commuting, running errands, or just trying to figure out how many layers to wear, here’s what you need to know.
Monday, March 4 – The Calm Before the Storm
Monday actually isn’t too bad. Expect a lot of clouds and temperatures reaching the mid-40s°F (6-7°C) in both Green Bay and La Crosse. It’ll feel pretty mild compared to what’s coming, so enjoy it while you can.
By the evening, temps dip into the mid-30s°F (1-2°C), setting the stage for a much messier Tuesday.
Tuesday, March 5 – Rain, Drizzle & A Chilly Turn
Tuesday is shaping up to be one of those grey, damp days. Off-and-on rain and drizzle will make it feel raw and chilly, with highs only reaching the low 40s°F (5-6°C).
By the evening, as temperatures start to drop, we could see some of that rain turn to snow—especially in La Crosse. Roads could get a little slick, so drive carefully.
Wednesday, March 6 – Windy & Feeling Like Winter Again
Here’s where things really start to shift. Expect strong winds to kick up in the afternoon, making it feel a lot colder. Green Bay, in particular, will get some gusty conditions, so if you’ve got loose outdoor decorations or trash cans, you might want to tie them down.
La Crosse could see a mix of snow and rain in the morning, followed by dropping temperatures and a chilly, cloudy day. By the evening, we’re back into the low 20s°F (-5°C), so winter coats will definitely be needed again.
Thursday, March 7 – Colder, But At Least It’s Sunny
The rain and snow move out, and we’ll finally get some sunshine. But don’t let it fool you—it’s still going to feel cold and breezy. Highs will only reach the upper 30s°F (3-4°C), and nighttime temperatures will stay below freezing.
Moral of the story? The sun’s out, but you’ll still need a warm jacket.
Friday, March 8 – More Clouds & A Possible Icy Mess
Friday isn’t looking great. We could see a mix of sleet, freezing rain, and drizzle in La Crosse, which could make for some slick morning roads. Green Bay will likely just stay cloudy and chilly, but either way, it’s not going to be a pretty day.
Highs will struggle to hit 40°F (2-3°C), and overnight, we’re dropping into the teens and low 20s°F (-8 to -7°C).
Saturday, March 9 – Snow? Rain? A Little of Both?
Forecasts are still a little up in the air for Saturday, but there’s a chance for light snow or flurries in the morning, especially in Green Bay. La Crosse might get a mix of rain and snow later in the day.
Highs will be in the mid-30s°F (0-2°C), and another overnight freeze is possible.
Sunday, March 10 – A Tiny Hint of Spring?
If you’re looking for a little warmth, Sunday might bring a tiny break. We could finally see some sun, and temperatures might reach the low 40s°F (6°C). It’s not exactly “shorts weather,” but compared to the rest of the week, it’ll feel pretty nice.
How to Handle This Week’s Crazy Weather:
Watch the Roads – Rain, freezing rain, and snow all make an appearance this week. If you’re driving, expect some slick spots and give yourself extra time to get around.
Hold Onto Your Hats (Literally) – Wednesday’s winds will be strong, especially in Green Bay. Anything outside that’s not tied down might end up in your neighbor’s yard.
Don’t Put Away the Winter Gear Yet – Even though it’s March, temps are still dipping into the teens and 20s°F (-8°C). Keep that heavy coat, gloves, and hat handy.
Check the Forecast Daily – With snow possible on Saturday and freezing rain on Friday, conditions could change quickly. Stay updated so you don’t get caught off guard.
