What You Should Do Now
This isn’t your average winter chill—it’s dangerously cold. Here’s how to protect yourself and your family:
- Wrap Your Pipes: Cover any exposed pipes to keep them from freezing and bursting.
- Stay Warm: Check that your heating systems are in working order, and make sure you have plenty of blankets or firewood.
- Help Neighbors: Check on elderly or vulnerable people to make sure they’re safe and warm.
- Be Careful Outdoors: Limit your time outside, and if you must go out, dress in layers and cover exposed skin to avoid frostbite.
- Drive Safely: Snow and ice will make roads slick, especially on bridges and overpasses. Slow down and give yourself plenty of time to stop.

Wyoming winters are tough, but this cold snap is on a whole other level. Stay informed with updates from local weather reports, and don’t take any chances. It’s better to over-prepare than to find yourself caught off guard by this extreme weather.
