Severe Flood Alert: Sacramento River Surges Past Flood Stage, Threatens RV Parks and Communities

A flood warning is in effect for Tehama County starting Monday and continuing until further notice. The Sacramento River is expected to overflow, flooding RV parks, roads, and low-lying areas. Residents are urged to take immediate precautions as water levels surge past critical points, posing serious risks to travel and property.

What’s Happening and Where?

The Sacramento River at Tehama Bridge has already exceeded the bankfull stage of 206.5 feet and is expected to rise above the 209.5-foot flood stage by Monday morning. The river could reach 209.7 feet, making roads in trailer parks, underpasses, and surrounding low-lying areas impassable.

  • Minor flooding is expected to affect trailer parks and RV camps along the river.
  • Key roads and turnarounds, including the Tehama/Vina road under the railroad tracks, could become flooded and inaccessible.
  • Water may begin to encroach on structures on the east side of the river.

Why This Flood Warning Is Serious

  • At 206.7 feet: Water reaches RV trailers and tires in the park on the east side of the river.
  • At 209.7 feet: Roads within the trailer park and underpasses become flooded, making them dangerous or impassable.
  • At 210.7 feet: Water begins entering Driftwood RV resort and threatens public parks.

What You Should Do to Stay Safe

  • Avoid driving through flooded roads. Just a few inches of water can cause cars to stall or wash away.
  • Obey road closures and barricades. These are put in place to protect drivers from hidden dangers.
  • Move valuables to higher ground if you live in flood-prone areas like Pelhams Bay or Snug Harbor.
  • Stay tuned to updates and alerts from local authorities as conditions may worsen.

Floodwaters are expected to remain high through Tuesday, so prepare for extended disruptions.
