How Cold Is It? Too Cold.

Across the state, temperatures have dropped so low that even stepping outside briefly can be risky. Wind chills are making it feel as cold as -25°F in some areas. At these levels, frostbite can happen in just 30 minutes. The National Weather Service has issued Extreme Cold Warnings for counties like Franklin, Cuyahoga, and Geauga, and these warnings remain in effect through Wednesday morning.

Lake Effect Snow Adds to the Chaos

In Northeast Ohio, lake effect snow is piling on the trouble—literally. Heavy snow and near-zero visibility are making roads hazardous. Geauga County is under a Lake Effect Snow Warning until 10 a.m. Monday, with Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, and Lake counties also affected. If you’re traveling, take extreme caution, as conditions are expected to remain treacherous.

What’s the Forecast in Your City?

  • Columbus: Clear skies, but don’t let the sunshine fool you—it’s only 7°F, and it won’t get much warmer, with a high of 11°F. Overnight, temps drop to 5°F.
  • Cleveland: There were a few snow showers this morning before partly sunny skies. Current temp is 6°F, with a high of just 11°F.
  • Cincinnati: Clear and cold, with a high of 14°F. Tonight’s low? A chilly 7°F.

No matter where you are, it’s dangerously cold.

What You Need to Do Right Now

  • Stay Inside: Limit outdoor time. If you have to go out, bundle up in layers, and make sure every inch of skin is covered.
  • Protect Your Pipes: Let faucets drip and keep cabinet doors open to stop pipes from freezing.
  • Check on Loved Ones: Ensure elderly family members, neighbors, and pets are safe and warm.
  • Be Smart About Heating: Never use grills or generators indoors—they can cause deadly carbon monoxide poisoning.
