Recap: McCall-Donnelly Vandals vs. Nyssa Bulldogs
McCall-Donnelly had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past the Nyssa Bulldogs 9-3. The victory was just what McCall-Donnelly needed coming off of a 14-4 defeat in their prior contest.
Owen Naugle was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Naugle has been consistent recently: he hasn’t tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances. Naugle was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, McCall-Donnelly got a massive performance out of Cole Naugle, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. John Hatfield was another key contributor, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with a triple, a stolen base, and a run.
McCall-Donnelly’s win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Nyssa, they haven’t won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
McCall-Donnelly is on the road again on Friday to play McLoughlin at 5:00 p.m. McCall-Donnelly is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they’ve averaged 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Nyssa, they will square off against Marsing at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
