Hey Sacramento, get ready for some foggy mornings and cool evenings this weekend! The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for the Central Valley, meaning some areas could see visibility drop to a quarter-mile or less early in the morning. If you’re heading out before sunrise, you’ll want to be extra cautious on the roads.
What’s the Weather Looking Like?
Saturday, Feb. 22 – Waking up early? Expect thick morning fog that could make driving a bit tricky. By late morning, the sun will start peeking through, and temperatures will warm up to a comfortable 69°F (20°C) in the afternoon. Once the sun sets, though, things cool down quickly—expect evening temps around 48°F (9°C), so grab a jacket if you’ll be out late.
Sunday, Feb. 23 – Pretty much the same as Saturday! Foggy and overcast in the morning, but the sun will break through later, warming things up to 67°F (19°C). The night will be chilly again, dropping to 47°F (8°C).
Looking Ahead – As we head into next week, temperatures will hover in the upper 60s and low 70s with plenty of sunshine once the fog clears. If you’re craving warmer, sunnier days, they’re on the way!
Morning Fog = Tricky Driving Conditions
If you’re driving early, take it slow and keep these fog safety tips in mind:
Use low-beam headlights (high beams just make it worse!).
Reduce your speed and leave extra space between cars.
If visibility is really bad, pull over and wait it out—safety first!
Cool Nights: Don’t Get Caught Without a Jacket
If you’re heading out for dinner, a late-night walk, or early morning jog, don’t let the mild afternoons fool you. Once the sun sets, it’s going to feel much colder. A light jacket or hoodie should do the trick!
Good News? Sunny Skies Are Coming!
Once we make it through the foggy mornings, Sacramento is in for beautiful, mild weather next week. Think plenty of sunshine and highs in the low 70s—perfect for getting outside and soaking up some sun.
