The W.F. West girls tennis team was victorious in its season opener on Monday, as the Bearcats defeated Castle Rock 5-1.
New W.F. West girls tennis coach Megan Wellander was “super impressed” with the Bearcats’ performance up and down the lineup, noting they did a great job of consistently self-correcting and staying focused throughout.
Emma Hamilton and Viviana Ibanez were victorious in the singles matches, winning 6-2, 7-5 and 6-2, 6-1, respectively. Alayna Leal was the lone Bearcat to fall on Monday, but she battled through three sets, losing 6-3, 2-6, 4-6.
All three W.F. West duos were victorious in the doubles matches, with Lully Hueffed and Katelyn Wood winning 6-1, 6-1, Ema Weerasinghe and Ellie Mittge winning 6-1, 6-0, and Emery Dalrymple and Manta Ceesay winning 6-2, 6-1.
The Bearcats will be back in action on Monday, when they’ll head to Aberdeen to take on the Bobcats.
